ASSET (Association for Educational Transformation), South Africa

ASSET is situated in the Western Cape, South Africa. It is a non-profit NGO which aims to provide opportunities for students from disadvantaged communities to realise their full educational potential, and to contribute to the process of educational transformation in South Africa.

Asset runs a number of programmes, including The Bursary Programme which supports approximately 550 students annually.

School leavers who apply to study at tertiary level and who are resident in the Western Cape are eligible. Priority is given to those who are financially needy and who have attended historically disadvantaged schools.

Bursaries cover 60% of the cost of tuition. Bursars are able to access loans to cover the 40% shortfall and any other costs e.g. hostel accommodation through a partnership with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.
